Ukrainian Bookshelf to be added to Limassol Municipal University Library

The city’s largest library, Limassol Municipal University Library, will soon be enriched with a Ukrainian Bookshelf.

An opening event will be taking place at 3pm on Saturday, 1 February.

As noted in a related announcement, the development marks, “a significant cultural milestone for the Ukrainian community in Cyprus.”

The official opening will take place on Saturday, 1 February 1, at 3pm at the Limassol Municipal University Library, 269 Ayiou Andreou Street, Limassol, 3032.

The initiative, developed by the Ukrainian-Cypriot Friendship Community and the Soloveyko Ukrainian Bookstore, aims to strengthen the cultural dialogue between Ukrainians and Cypriots.

The collection includes 300 books produced by more than 30 Ukrainian publishers, offering a diverse selection of contemporary and classic literature across all genres. The bookshelf features both children's and adult literature, representing the richness of Ukrainian literary heritage.

The event programme includes a library tour and lecture about the library, engaging master classes, and activities for children, as well as the official ribbon-cutting ceremony. The programme will be conducted in Ukrainian and Greek.

“This initiative was made possible with the invaluable support of the Limassol Municipality and the Cyprus University of Technology. The Mayor of Limassol will also attend the opening, underlining the importance of cultural exchange and community integration,” the press release concluded.
