Council of Ministers convenes to discuss 2025 government actions

The Council of Ministers held a meeting at the presidential residence in Troodos area to discuss the Government’s actions for 2025, as well as pending issues from 2024. 

Addressing the Council of Ministers on 12 January, President, Nikos Christodoulides said that it is important for each member of the Cabinet to strictly follow the decisions about the actions that are set to be implemented in 2025.

He also said that the actions they would agree on would be presented by him at his State of the Union address on 29 January and stressed that the goal was to improve citizens’ daily lives and create the conditions for more progress.

The President noted that they are doing this in the context of accountability and transparency.

He further said that he wanted to discuss at the meeting the government’s priorities for 2025, noting that all policies must be aligned with the goals they have set for this year and that they would also look into the pending issues from 2024 out of the 88 actions he had announced last year.

“I am happy because a significant number of them has already been implemented,” he said, noting that some issues were still pending, which are, mainly, with the Legal Service for vetting.

He also said that several issues were pending before parliamentary Committees, and, if necessary, he would address Parliament, in writing, to request for the discussion and voting of bills.
