Mitsotakis: Electricity interconnection with Cyprus to proceed if financially viable

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis referred to the electricity interconnection between Greece and Cyprus, during a press conference at the Thessaloniki International Fair, noting that if the project's financial viability is secured, it will go ahead.

"I think it is an important project, much more important for Cyprus because it essentially breaks its energy isolation," Mitsotakis said when asked about the issue.

He said that the Greek government is in negotiations with the Cypriot government and the regulatory authorities regarding the project's economic viability.

"I can assure you that if the financial viability of the project is ensured, the project will go ahead. And any geopolitical risks will be dealt with," he concluded.
