Recovery and Resilience Plan – 3rd Annual Event

The 3rd Annual Event of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, co-organised by the Directorate General Growth, Ministry of Finance and the European Commission Representation in Cyprus, will be held on Tuesday 15 October 2024 at Hilton Nicosia.

The event aims to present the implementation progress of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) as well as some key results to date. Emphasis will be placed on the enhancement of the health sector, through the measures implemented within the framework of the RRP.

The Minister of Finance, Mr Makis Keravnos, and the Acting Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus, Mr Nikolaos Isaris, will address the event.

In her presentation, Ms Céline Gauer, Director General of the European Commission's Special Group on Recovery and Resilience (SG-RECOVER), will refer to the overall progress of the EU Recovery and Resilience Mechanism funding in member states to date, with emphasis on Cyprus. Ms Anthoula H. Savvides, Director of the Recovery and Resilience Directorate and Head of the Coordinating Authority for the Recovery and Resilience Plan, will analyse the progress made to date as well as the plan’s important achievements.

The first panel discussion will focus on the significant results and the impact of the Cyprus RRP, during the first three years of its implementation. The discussion’s speakers are: Mr Andreas Zachariadis, Permanent Secretary of the General Directorate for Growth, Ministry of Finance, Ms Sotiroula Charalambous, Secretary General of PEO, Mr Marios Tsiakkis, Secretary General of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ms Eugenia Herodotou, CEO of EnergyIntel Cyprus and Mr Christos Fotiades, Director of the Industry and Technology Service of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry. Ms Céline Gauer, Director General of SG-RECOVER at European Commission, will moderate the discussion.

The second part of the conference will focus on measures directed towards strengthening the health sector, through the Recovery and Resilience Plan, initially hosting Ms Christina Yiannaki, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health. Ms Yiannaki will present the implementation of projects in the health sector as well as their progress to date.

The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion, in the same field, entitled "Strengthening the resilience of the Health sector through the Recovery and Resilience Plan". The panelists include: Ms Christiana Mylona, Head of Marketing and Public Relations of Evangelismos Private Hospital, Mr Luc Tholoniat, Director at the Directorate General of Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission (DG ECFIN), Mr Kypros Stavridis, General Executive Director of State Health Services Organisation, and Ms Emili Groutidou Petridou, President of the Pancyprian Organization of People with Kidney Disorders. The discussion will be moderated by Ms Ifigenia Kammitsi, Director of the Beneficiaries and Providers Directorate of the Health Insurance Organization.

The conference will conclude with questions from the audience. A networking lunch will follow, offering the opportunity for participants to exchange views on the themes of the event and the Recovery and Resilience Plan in general.
