Philippos Soseilos: Cyprus' Vision 2035 is not an abstract concept anymore

Addressing the 12th Invest Cyprus International Investment Awards presented by PwC Cyprus, the company's CEO Philippos Soseilos underlined that its 11th consecutive support of the event was a reflection of its belief in the importance of the investors.

He thanked the investors for their trust in the economy of Cyprus and noted that their input made a considerable contribution to the growth of the country's business ecosystem.

Soseilos remarked on the strength of the economy of Cyprus and outlined his further thoughts on this under a number of pillars: Potential, Reorientation, Reinvention, a Sustainable Approach and the Perception Gap, meaning bridging the gap that exists between the real image and the misconceptions that prevail in relation to the local business environment, and a Sustainable Approach.

Going on to say that the economy of Cyprus was going from strength to strength, Soseilos outlined his further thoughts on these.

On Potential, he said there was great potential for the economy, adding that what he described as the early signs of a buzz, had been replaced by momentum. "Vision 2035 is not abstract anymore," Soseilos said, referring to the state's long-term strategy for the sustainable development of the Cypriot economy.

On Reorientation, Soseilos said this referred to investors seeing new opportunities in Cyprus, and observing what the island is becoming.

On Reinvention, he underlined the importance of keeping moving forward, and also having the confidence to do so.

When it comes to the Perception Gap, Soseilos said that efforts to cast the island in a bad light had been combated with the results of positive reviews of the economy and the agility of the economy itself. He also suggested that confidence also comes into play here, allowing Cyprus "to bridge that perception gap with confidence."

On the pillar of the Sustainable Approach, Soseilos said that this was particularly where a team approach was necessary, along with elements such as strong collaborations with investors.

He underlined that "We need a systemic approach in all areas, and we must turn into a Cyprus national team in order to attract even more investors."

Soseilos concluded his address by thanking the investors "for working with us as an ecosystem for the benefit of Cyprus."
