UNSG considering recommendations in Holguín’s report, Dujarric says

The UN Secretary General is now considering the recommendations in María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar's report in order to propose the next steps to the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders, said SG’s Spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, during a press briefing on the Cyprus issue, held on 11 July at the UN headquarters in New York.

“The Secretary General received yesterday the report of Ms. Holguin in her efforts to find common ground in the way forward in Cyprus”, said Dujarric.  

“The SG is now considering the recommendations in her report in order to propose the next steps to the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders,“ he added.

Replying to a question by the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), Dujarric pointed out that “SG will take a look at Holguin’s report and then he will speak on the way forward”.

Meanwhile, the Security Council held consultations on the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP). The UNSG's Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, Colin Stewart, briefed Council members on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue.
