Alpha Holdings says it is not negotiating Bank of Cyprus stake

Alpha Services and Holdings, which includes Alpha Bank, has issued a statement saying it has not embarked on negotiations for the acquisition of a stake in the Bank of Cyprus.

The statement came after press reports suggested that Alpha Holdings was negotiating for a share in the Bank of Cyprus.

The announcement said, "For the purposes of properly informing investors, Alpha Services and Holdings S.A. (“Alpha Holdings”) denies as untrue recent electronic press article(s) suggesting that Alpha Holdings has embarked into negotiations for the acquisition of a stake in Bank of Cyprus Holdings Public Limited Company (“Bank of Cyprus”) from existing shareholders.

In the context of implementing its publicly announced Strategic Plan, Alpha Holdings monitors the market for assessing opportunities and will keep investors informed in accordance with all applicable laws."
