The new, and returning, Mayors of Nicosia, Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca and Famagusta

There are new mayors for Nicosia and Limassol with Charalambos Prountzos and Yiannis Armeftis, respectively, elected to the posts for the first time.

When 40 per cent of the votes had been counted on 9 June, Prountzos had 57% and the candidate considered his main rival, Nicos Tornaritis, had 30.6%, leading Tornaritis to concede his loss.

Prountzos was backed by AKEL, EDEK and VOLT and Tornaritis supported by DISY and DEPA.

In Limassol, Armeftis , supported by AKEL, DIKO, EDEK and VOLT won more votes by Nicos Nicolaides, who had held the post since 2016.

With 90.3 per cent of the votes counted, Armeftis garnered 48.5% of the votes, and Nicolaides 43.2%.

Voters in Paphos, Larnaca and free Famagusta, meanwhile, re-elected their previous mayors, Phedonas Phedonos, Andreas Vyras and Simos Ioannou respectively.
