The Old Municipal Market has been renovated, expanded, and will soon be inaugurated

In the heart of Nicosia’s walled city lies a building with a story that transcends time. Once a bustling marketplace, designed by architect Stavros Economou in the early 1960s, the AGORA building was created to accommodate professionals and serve as a meeting point for the community while it stood witness to the ebb and flow of a divided community.

Fast forward to April 23rd, as this historic structure undergoes a remarkable transformation, the Municipality of Nicosia is organizing a closed Inauguration Ceremony of the “Business Innovation Center – Cultural and Creative Industries Quarter – Restoration and Expansion of the Old Municipal Market” project, on Tuesday the 23rd of April 2024, at 18:30.

Following the closed Inauguration Ceremony of the “Business Innovation Center – Cultural and Creative Industries Quarter – Restoration and Expansion of the Old Municipal Market” by the Nicosia Municipality, a celebration, open to the public, with live demonstrations, performances and exhibition will take place, marking the transformation of the iconic AGORA building—an emblem of community gathering—into a cutting-edge hub for emerging technologies.

CYENS aims to welcome the people of Nicosia at the open celebration taking place at 19:00, whether those are residents, visitors, entrepreneurs, or simply friends of the city, to visit the space and learn about all the programs and research conducted at the Center.
