Dr Christodoulos Patsalides appointed CBC Governor

President Nikos Christodoulides has appointed Dr Christodoulos Patsalides as Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).

The new Governor assumes duties from 11 April, succeeding incumbent Constantinos Herodotou.

Dr Patsalides, who was appointed Special Adviser to the President on economic matters in March 2023, has extensive experience in positions of high responsibility in the banking sector, the presidency said in an official announcement. In October 2020, he left the private sector. He subsequently provided consulting services in Cyprus and abroad in the fields of banking and insurance, capital management, and financial technology.

He is an economist and holds a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics, University of London (1989).

“The President of the Republic wishes to express his thanks to Mr Herodotou for their cooperation,” the announcement said concluding. “He also expresses his warm thanks to Mr Herodotou for his services during a crucial time for the country’s economy.”
