Energy Minister in Abu Dhabi for IRENA Assembly meeting

Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry George Papanastasiou is in Abu Dhabi to participate in the 14th Session of the Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), which will take place between 16 and 18 April.

According to a Ministry statement, in the context of the meeting, Papanastasiou will also take part in a Ministerial Roundtable Discussion on "Infrastructure for the Energy Transition: Utilities for Net Zero Alliance", which will be attended by EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson, the Director General of IRENA, the CEO of TAQA (the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC) and other officials and dignitaries.

It is added that during his stay in the UAE capital, the Minister of Energy will participate, in parallel, in the proceedings of the 16th edition of the World Future Energy Summit, which is being held on the same days, and is scheduled to have a number of meetings, including with senior ADNOC officials (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company).

The Energy Minister returns to Cyprus on Thursday, the statement concludes.
