MoUs big step for space sector in Cyprus, CSEO President notes

A big step has been taken in the vision for Cyprus to become a leading global hub in the space sector, President of the Cyprus Space Exploration Organisation (CSEO) has said.

It is recalled that recently, CSEO signed what has been described as "landmark Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Invest Cyprus, the national investment promotion agency of Cyprus, and Strategy International (SI), a leading consulting firm specialising in business strategy and geopolitical analysis."

"The importance of these MoUs is that we are now taking the next big step in our vision,” George A. Danos, pictured above in the centre during the signing of the MoUs, told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).

We’re building, he noted, on a series of significant milestones.

These milestones are “the signing of the cooperation agreement with NASA TRISH last June; the implementation of Cyprus's Space Centre, C-SpaRC; our designation as COSPAR’s first International Space Innovation Centre – the world-first physical facility that will be instrumental in bridging international space collaboration; and the signing of the Artemis Accords, the first deliverable from the US-Cyprus Strategic Dialogue, clearly demonstrating the importance of space for the United States”.

Now, he added, “building upon these achievements and CSEO's strong track record, we are joining forces with key allies – Invest Cyprus, the government's primary investment body, and Strategy International, a leading strategy firm – to forge together a strategic plan”.

This plan, Danos continued, will drive key actions and investments, propelling Cyprus’s role in the space sector and transforming our nation into a thriving space hub of international cooperation, working alongside our strategic allies and friends from around the world.

“Imagine the possibilities: significant space-related infrastructure in Cyprus, creating jobs and stimulating our country's economy. With these partnerships and our vision, we are resolutely launching Cyprus into the space era", he concluded.

Key objectives of the MoUs include strategic investment, accelerated innovation, enhanced international collaboration, development of a robust and sustainable Space Ecosystem and commercialisation and export.
