President: 2025 Εurobasket in Cyprus will be "excellent”

Organising the Eurobasket in Cyprus in 2025 "is going to be excellent", President Nikos Christodoulides said, after he watched the match between Cyprus and France in Nicosia on 21 November and received the EuroBasket 2025 trophy.

In statements to the press, he said that the country is proud to be organising the Eurobasket and that preparations are progressing smoothly.

Christodoulides said that a committee has been established to monitor the preparations, adding that he is confident Cyprus will put on an “excellent” tournament.

He referred to the 1987 final between Greece and the then USSR, saying that from that point onwards, the sport was boosted in Cyprus.

And since then, basketball on the island has progressed and we now see teams playing abroad against difficult adversaries, the President pointed out.

The final 2025 FIBA Εurobasket tournament will take place at “Spyros Kyprianou” arena in Limassol between 28 August and 5 September, 2025.
