First mobile desalination units to be ready in October 2025, Water Development Department says

The Water Development Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment, has said that the first mobile desalination units will be ready in October 2025.

It added that Cyprus was top of Europe regarding per capita storage of rainwater and the use of non-conventional resources, with 110 dams, of which 57 are large, five desalination plants covering over 70% of household water needs and nine tertiary sewerage treatment plants through which over 80% of recovered water is used for irrigation.

Moreover, the Department said that based on the planning, the first mobile desalination units will be ready in October 2025, following all procedures for the award of the award and licensing of the project and their construction and operation.
