CMMI joins Next Blue Generation project 3rd consortium meeting

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) recently participated in the 3rd consortium meeting of the Next Blue Generation project that took place in Athens.

The meeting was hosted by the National Technical University of Athens, and in particular by the Maritime Risk Group (MRG), bringing together its 10 partners who discussed and exchanged ideas on the project’s progress and developments, setting at the same time future goals and actions.

CMMI was represented at the meeting by its CEO, Zacharias Siokouros, Educational Content Developer Anthi Christodoulou, Administrations Officer Monica Andreou and Associate Scientist Yiota Fotiou, who also gave a presentation on the outline of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for teachers.

The course is structured around nine modules, with an emphasis on Nautical Tourism, Maritime Transport, Shipbuilding and Repair, Aquaculture, Marine Biotechnology, Marine Conservation and Ocean Literacy, which will provide teachers and trainers with the necessary background information enabling them to support young people in their career choices in the Blue Economy.

Other tools that will be used are the Blue Generation Game and the Blue Career Pathway Tool that are currently under preparation and will be available by the second semester of 2025.
