Cyprus and US sign Bilateral Defense Cooperation Program

On January 19, 2024, the Bilateral Defense Cooperation Program for 2024 was signed in Nicosia between the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus and the Armed Forces of the United States of America (USA).

In a press release on 23 January, the National Guard General Staff said the Program includes a number of actions, including conducting exercises and training, both in Cyprus and in the USA, in the areas of special operations, provision of First Aid on the Battlefield, maritime cooperation and search and rescue. It also provides for the participation of National Guard Officers and NCOs at specialised schools and seminars in the US.

A post of the US Embassy in Cyprus on X platform says that Cyprus and the USA are ''strengthening ties, with the signing of the military cooperation plan for 2024.''

''Looking forward to enhancing our cooperation with the National Guard through an even strong program of military education, bilateral exercises, and other engagements,'' the post concludes.
