Financials sector made greatest contribution to total value traded at CSE in December 2023

The Cyprus Stock Exchange’s Monthly Statistical Issue for December 2023 has revealed that the financials sector contributed to almost 75% of the total value traded that month.

More specifically, according to the CSE, “The Financials sector contributed 74.95% to the total value traded which was the highest among all other sectors.”

The CSE’s report added that investors primarily focused their interest on the shares of Bank οf Cyprus Holdings Plc and also on shares of Demetra Holdings Plc with 43.96% and 30.04% of the total value respectively.

On the last trading session of December 2023 the General Index reached 136,01 points, representing a relative increase of 4.75% from the previous month.

The value of shares traded exhibited an increase of 60.22% compared to the previous month. It is worth mentioning however, that the highest level that the General Index reached for the month was 137,00 points, the CSE’s report also said.

The other Market Indices, meanwhile, reached the following levels: Main Market reached 103,52, Alternative Market 1.184,95, Investment Companies 1.426,04 points.

On a sectoral level, the Hotels Index reached 885,58 points. The FTSE/CySE20 reached 82,57 points. The market capitalisation of shares (shares) reached € 3.81 billion. According to the month’s results, the Main Market accounted for 69.42% of the total market capitalisation, the Alternative Market 23.31%, the Surveillance Market 1.36% and the Bond Market 5.91%.

“Moreover, the total market capitalisation including the Bond Market reached € 4.05 billion compared to € 3.98 billion the previous month, registering an increase of 1.79%,” the CSE reported.

The total value of transactions during the month in review reached € 8.86 million, with an average of € 0.47 million per trading session.
