Cyprus' Deputy Minister of Shipping meets Greek Minister of Maritime Affairs

Deputy Minister of Shipping of the Republic of Cyprus, Marina Hadjimanolis, paid an official visit to Athens, during which she held meetings on issues related to her portfolio.

On 13 July, the Deputy Minister held a meeting with the Greek Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy, Miltiades Varvitsiotis, during which they discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation and global shipping.

In a statement, the Cypriot Deputy Ministry of Shipping notes that during the meeting, Hadjimanolis and Varvitsiotis reaffirmed the close relations and strong ties between the two countries and decided to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Varvitsiotis accepted an invitation extended to him by the Deputy Minister to participate in the 'Maritime Cyprus 2023' conference, which will be held in Limassol on 8-11 October. Furthermore, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation on issues of technical upgrading of the Greek registry, as well as maritime spatial planning.

During her visit to Athens, the Deputy Minister held meetings with the shipping community of Greece, highlighting the advantages of Cypriot shipping and registry. At the same time, she expressed the willingness of her Deputy Ministry to cooperate with shipping companies and the institutions representing them to address the challenges that the shipping sector is facing.

On 11 July, Hadjimanolis attended the first annual Hellenic-American Shipping Gala and on 12 July, she addressed the ceremony of the Efkranti Awards.

The Deputy Minister also held a meeting with the Board of Directors and the President of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vassilis Korkidis.
