European diving assembly to be held in Cyprus

The General Assembly of the European Underwater Federation (EUF) will be held in Cyprus on 17-19 June.

The event is being organised by the Cyprus Dive Centre Association, which is a member of EUF and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).

According to a CCCI press release, the Assembly will be attended by 20 delegates from various European countries, including Austria, Finland, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, Israel, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands, while during the Assembly, in addition to the internal issues of the Federation, important issues such as the safety of diving activities, as well as the revision of standards governing the industry, will be discussed.

It is added that "the importance of the event for Cyprus is evident both in terms of the representation of the participating countries and the topics to be discussed."

"Diving tourism is a rapidly growing alternative tourism sector, which is compatible with the principles of sustainability and sustainable development and indirectly protects both the environment and biodiversity," the press release concludes.
