Government servers back online following the water leak

Τhe damage following the leak at the basement where government servers are located has been repaired and all systems are up and running, the Ministry of Finance has said.

In a press release on 12 April, the Ministry said that the government's information systems, e-mail, websites are back in operation, thanks to the admirable efforts of IT Services Department officials.

On-line services of the various government departments are now operational and the public can be served, it concluded.

The leak was noticed on the afternoon of 10 April and all the systems were shut down as a precaution. Efforts immediately began to restore and assess the damage.

The public was given instructions for alternative solutions in their accommodation online due to the issues encountered.

On the evening on 11 April, the Ministry of Finance announced on Twitter that the systems of the government hub, are operating to 80%, thanks to what he described as the admirable efforts of the IT Services Department.

An investigation into the incident was ordered to establish why a Cabinet decision made last November to transfer the servers to CYTA was not implemented.
