Producers from around the world to attend Film in Cyprus event in London

Focus – The Meeting Place for International Production in London is presenting ‘FILM IN CYPRUS (followed by Networking)’, sponsored by the Cyprus Film Commission, on 5 December at the at the Business Design Centre London, offering film producers from around the world the chance to meet them and over 250 exhibitors from across the globe.

Film Commissioner Lefteris S. Eleftheriou, who will be the event’s keynote speaker, told CBN that following the success of the prestigious Rose D’Or Awards, whose sponsors included the Cyprus Film Commission, the Cypriot delegation is now preparing for the Focus event this week.

“It is exclusively for locations and it is essentially the biggest location event in Europe,” Eleftheriou explained. “We will make a presentation and we will have a cocktail party for the participants.” The Focus event is very prestigious, according to the Commissioner, with almost all film commissions in Europe expected to attend. “There will be directors, and there will be many attendees from the US. Hollywood is looking for locations outside of the US and this is why they will be coming to the event.”

While in London, Eleftheriou will also be attending the annual general meeting of EUFCN (European Film Commission Network), as a member of its Board.

As for the Rose D’Or 2023 Awards, which is for TV series and films, Eleftheriou said it went really well. “Cyprus’ logo was everywhere and it was promoted very well.”
According to Focus: “Cyprus is a unique natural film studio in itself, featuring a polymorphic landscape with sceneries never shown on film. The Cyprus Film Commission has the responsibility to act as a facilitator for preapproved productions, with regards to crew finding, location scouting, permits, licenses etc.”

Film in Cyprus is an initiative by Invest Cyprus and was established to boost the highly promising audio-visual sector. The government has introduced a package of incentives to encourage international producers to choose Cyprus as their next film destination.
