Final day of 2024 state budget debate

The three-day debate over next year's annual state budget will conclude this afternoon at the House of Representatives, with the adoption of the 2024 state budget and the Medium-Term Financial Framework 2024-2026.

The parties have prepared a number of amendments to the state budget that will also be put to the plenary for approval or rejection.

The budget is in surplus, with a fiscal surplus of 2.2% of GDP and a primary surplus of 3.6% of GDP.

DISY, DIKO, EDEK and DIPA said they would vote in favour while opposition AKEL said it will vote against.
