Nicosia taking part in the 1st URBACT Cities after Dark network meeting

Nicosia is taking part in the first transnational meeting of the "Cities After Dark" network, which will take place from 13 to 15 November 2023 in the Portuguese city of Braga in the framework of the URBACT programme for sustainable development.

The meeting, with the participation of project partners, experts and representatives of local authorities from different cities, will discuss innovative strategies related to nightlife in cities.

A Nicosia Municipality announcement says that the Night-time Economy comprises key activities for running the city 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with the project encompassing various sectors such as mobility, entertainment, hospitality, emergency services, security, logistics, etc.

During the meeting participants are invited to share their experiences and present the impact of the URBACT programme on their cities and regions, while the International Conference "Cities after dark - A perspective for the night-time economy" stands out in the programme, promising to shed light on the importance of the night-time economy in areas such as urban safety, night-time entertainment and innovative strategies to make cities more vibrant and safer after dark.

The night-time economy is dynamic and has a significant impact on urban life, offering economic, cultural and social opportunities, but it also requires careful management to address specific challenges, the statement concludes.
