President in Dubai for COP28 summit

President Nikos Christodoulides is heading to Dubai to attend the UN Climate Summit, COP28, with Government Spokesman, Konstantinos Letymbiotis telling reporters that the President will refer to the effects of climate change in Cyprus, but also in the Eastern Mediterranean, "which is an area that will be greatly affected by climate change".

"President Christodoulides will refer to the steps needed to be taken for implementing the regional action plan to address climate change in the Eastern Mediterranean within the Cyprus initiative on climate change presented on the sidelines of last year's COP27 Summit," he added.

Christodoulides is expected to have a meeting with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the context of his visit to Dubai for the COP28 conference, Cypriot Ambassador to the UAE, Meropi Christofi, has said.

In an interview with the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), Christofi said that President Christodoulides will have the opportunity, among other things, to elaborate on the next steps in relation to Cyprus' Mediterranean initiative.

She also referred to the cooperation between Cyprus and the Emirates on issues of trade, economy, energy, artificial intelligence and the e-governance of Cyprus.
