FinMin in Brussels to take part in GAC meeting on the future of Cohesion Policy

Minister of Finance Makis Keravnos is in Brussels to represent the Republic of Cyprus in the General Affairs Council on Cohesion Policy, on Thursday, 30 November.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry, the Council will discuss the Future of the EU’s Cohesion Policy beyond 2027 and will approve the conclusions on the future of cohesion policy.

The Ministry added that Cohesion Policy is at the centre of discussions in the EU, as the proposal on the next multi-annual budget beyond 2027 is expected to be submitted by mid-2025.

Cohesion policy is the EU’s main long-term investment instrument of the EU and amounts more than a third of the EU budget.

In Cyprus the Cohesion Policy is implemented via the “THALIA 2021 – 2027” totalling €1.8 billion, an auspicious investment programme which touches almost every sector of the country’s economic and social life, in line with the priorities and targets set by the EU Cohesion Policy, both on green and just transition as well as the digital transformation, the Ministry added.
