“Qatar is the first of the Gulf countries that I am visiting, both for our bilateral issues, but also because of the developments in our region and the definitive role that Qatar plays,” said Christodoulides.

Regarding the two countries’ bilateral ties, the President said he had agreed with the Emir that they need to be further enhanced, particularly in the economic sector.

“And I welcome the fact that through our meeting, he decided to send to Cyprus in the next few weeks a team of various investment funds from the country, to explore the potential for investments in our country, in the fields of infrastructure, energy and tourism,” said the president.

Christodoulides also referred to the MoU that was signed during his delegation’s official visit to Doha, for cooperation in the field of higher education, which the president said opens the way for Cypriot universities to be included in the list of universities that Qatar offers scholarships for students to study abroad.
