ECM Chairman Savvas Liasis emerges as potential investor in Apoel FC, sources confirm

Sources close to the matter confirmed to CBN that Savvas Liasis, ECM Group and Ygia Group Chairman, has emerged as one of the main potential investors in APOEL FC, as the Nicosia-based football club explores options for its future direction.

With more than 25 years of institutional investment experience, he is the founder and CEO of EBI, based in London. EBI is one of the largest independent institutional electronic equity brokerages in Europe with a client base of 400 Institutional clients in over 30 countries.

Liasis is also the Chairman of Ygia Polyclinic, the largest private hospital of Cyprus.

ECM Partners is headquartered in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and focuses on opportunities across Central and Southeastern Europe. In recent years, the firm has made a strategic entry into Cyprus, securing a series of key investments in the healthcare sector while continuing to explore further opportunities on the island.

Notably, ECM has acquired more than 90% of the Ygia Group, led by Ygia Polyclinic. Additional investments include Londa Residences in Limassol, a luxury development, as well as 16 villas in Latchi, in the Paphos district.

More recently, Liasis launched ECM Fund Management Ltd, the firm’s newly licensed Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM), approved by both CySEC and its Slovenian counterpart.

The fund will target mid-market companies undergoing transition or temporary dislocation. “This is where active ownership and operational improvement can unlock sustainable, long-term value,” Liasis told GOLD magazine.
