President meets with Pope Francis in Vatican

President Nikos Christodoulides, accompanied by First Lady Philippa Karsera Christodoulides and members of the Cypriot delegation, met with Pope Francis at the Holly See.

President Christodoulides and Pope Francis had a private meeting, followed by a meeting with all the members of the Cypriot delegation, a presidency press release said.

Pope Francis gave the President a medal depicting Saint Peter's Basilica while President Christodoulides gifted Pope Francis a silver copy of an olive tree which is a symbol of peace.

The President and the Cypriot delegation also had a meeting with Holy See Prime Minister, Cardinal Parolin.

President Christodoulides is also scheduled to meet with ENI officials during his visit in Italy, at the company's offices in Rome.
