Stephanos Kassianides: "Eurobank is considering opening a representative office in Israel"

Eurobank is considering the possibility of establishing a representative office in Israel, as part of its efforts to strengthen business cooperation between Cyprus and Israel, according to Stephanos Kassianides, Senior General Manager of Eurobank Limited, speaking at the 8th Cyprus-Israel Business & Investment Summit, taking place today, Tuesday 20 October, in Tel Aviv.

Kassianides highlighted the close business relationship between the two countries, noting that Cyprus can serve as a natural gateway for Israeli businesses and investors seeking access to European markets.

He said there are significant prospects for further developing cooperation in areas such as trade, technology, innovation and investment. Strengthening economic ties, he added, could create new opportunities for businesses in both countries, facilitating the expansion of their activities and the development of partnerships.

Prospects for the IMEC economic corridor

Kassianides made particular reference to the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), expressing Eurobank’s confidence in the initiative’s prospects and underlining Israel’s importance as a key country along the corridor.

IMEC aims to enhance connectivity between Asia, the Middle East and Europe, creating new opportunities for trade, investment and economic cooperation. Its development could generate additional opportunities for businesses and financial institutions across the wider region.

According to Kassianides, Eurobank Group supports the strengthening of business cooperation between Cyprus and Israel, leveraging its capabilities and presence to support clients seeking to develop cross-border activities.

Supporting businesses and exploring a presence in Israel

The Senior General Manager of Eurobank Limited also outlined the ways in which the bank supports its clients, to facilitate and further develop business relations between the two countries.

This includes examining the possibility of establishing a representative office in Israel — a move that could strengthen the bank’s engagement with the Israeli business community and help identify new opportunities for cooperation.

The announcement carries particular significance at a time when Cyprus is seeking to reinforce its role as a regional business and investment hub, drawing on its geographical position, its status as an EU member state and its close ties with Israel.

The 8th Cyprus-Israel Business & Investment Summit, organised by IMH in Tel Aviv, aims precisely to strengthen these ties by bringing together entrepreneurs, investors and financial institutions, and highlighting prospects for new investments and partnerships.
