The share of renewable energy sources in net electricity generation in Cyprus stood at 36.80% in June 2026, according to Eurostat data published on Friday, while in July the share fell to 29.98%.
According to Eurostat’s monthly data, during the second quarter of the year the share in Cyprus stood at 34.66% in April, increased to 36.84% in May and remained almost unchanged at 36.80% in June, before falling to 29.98% in July.
Across the EU as a whole, 54.1% of the electricity generated in the second quarter of 2026 came from renewable energy sources, according to Eurostat. The share was marginally lower than the 54.3% recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2025.
Solar energy was the largest source of renewable electricity in the EU during the second quarter, accounting for 41.6% of total electricity generation from renewable sources. The corresponding share stood at 37.0% a year earlier.
