Cyprus committed to promoting social justice, Labour Minister says

Cyprus is committed to promoting social justice via specific policies and actions Labour Minister Marinos Moushouttas said, during his intervention at the Annual Forum of the Global Coalition for Social Justice of the International Labour Organisation, held on 16 and 17 September.

According to a press release, the Minister presented Cyprus' main contribution to the Global Coalition, which is related to the development of educational action for policy makers, with the aim of strengthening their capacity to systematically integrate the dimension of social justice in planning and political decision-making.

The first educational action took place last May and Cyprus intends to continue and expand the initiative, with a new educational action in 2027. The Minister said in his intervention that social justice cannot be achieved exclusively through employment and social protection policies, but requires a horizontal approach, coherence between policies and substantial participation of social partners and other stakeholders.

He also made special reference to the recent appointment of Cyprus as a member of the Coordinating Group of the Global Coalition for Social Justice for a new term, saying that this is both an honor and a responsibility and confirming Cyprus' readiness to actively contribute to strengthening cooperation and collective action for social justice.
