"It is both a great honour and a significant responsibility to assume the Chairmanship of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission," George Karatzias has said, adding, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, the Minister of Finance, and the members of the Council of Ministers for the trust they have placed in me through my appointment."
In a post on LinkedIn, he continued, "At the same time, I feel compelled to express my sincere appreciation to the Central Bank of Cyprus, where I served as an Executive Board Member. My collaboration with the Governor, the Board of Directors, and the Central Bank’s exceptional staff has been highly constructive and productive. I leave with feelings of appreciation, gratitude, and pride for all that we have achieved collectively."
As Karatzias went on to note in his message, "The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity, transparency, and orderly functioning of the market, with the ultimate objective of protecting investors. I undertake my new responsibilities with full awareness of the challenges facing the financial sector, as well as the opportunities that lie ahead. With dedication and a strong sense of responsibility, I am committed to working closely with the Vice -Chairman, the rest of the members of the Board, and the Commission’s dedicated staff to further strengthen the institution and enhance Cyprus’ international reputation."
