Nikos Christodoulides: I have agreed to pay the €25m yearly contribution for the GSI as soon as a NAVTEX is issued for cable laying

President Nikos Christodoulides has tated that Nicosia has absolutely no objection to paying the €25 million per year that constitute an agreed contribution to the implementation process of the electrical interconnection project with the GSI pipeline.

He was speaking to journalist Manolis Kalatzis on Plus television's show, 'Epikaira,' protothema.gr has reported.

Christodoulides revealed that he has agreed with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis that the money will be paid as soon as NAVTEX is issued for the continuation of the investigations and the laying of the cable.

A NAVTEX (Navigational Telex) is an international, automated medium-frequency direct-printing service that delivers vital maritime safety information, weather forecasts, and navigational warnings to ships at sea.

The President also made his support of Finance Minister Makis Keravnos clear in connection to his cautious stance regarding the project's sustainability, saying that this is the job of a responsible Finance Minister.

Christodoulides also made it clear that there is no point of friction with Greece, and as he said, some are trying to create a problem.
