U.S. Ambassador John Breslow presents his credentials to President Christodoulides

U.S. Ambassador John Breslow has presented his credentials to President Nikos Christodoulides.

As noted in a relevant statement from the U.S. Embassy in Nicosia, "Ambassador Breslow arrived in Nicosia on 5 September, 2026, to begin his tenure as the U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Cyprus. Ambassador Breslow was nominated by President Donald J. Trump and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on 7 August."

As noted in his official bio on the Embassy's website, Ambassador Breslow is a devoted philanthropist and community leader with a notable career in business and politics.

Breslow was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as United States Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus on 21 October, 2025.  Following his confirmation by the U.S. Senate, he arrived in Cyprus to take charge of the U.S. Embassy in Nicosia.

Ambassador Breslow has had a notable career in business, politics, and philanthropy.  He was the former Owner and Chairman of Linweld, Inc., one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of industrial, medical, and specialty gases and welding supplies.  He is also a minority owner of the Vegas Golden Knights in the National Hockey League and the Bournemouth Cherries in the Premier League, and previously served as Alternate Governor on the NHL’s Board of Governors.

In public service, Ambassador Breslow served two terms as State Auditor of Public Accounts in Nebraska and later ran for Governor of Nebraska.  Earlier in his career, he served as Commissioner of the Lincoln Commission on Human Rights in Lincoln, Nebraska.

A devoted philanthropist and community leader, Ambassador Breslow has spent much of his life dedicated to civic and charitable causes.  He served as Chairman of the Madonna Foundation, as a Member of the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Lincoln, Nebraska, and as a Member of the Board of Directors of EMT Corp.

A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, Ambassador Breslow holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.  He is also an experienced pilot with over 48 years of flight experience.

Ambassador Breslow has been married to Sonia Breslow for over fifty years.  They have three daughters and five grandchildren.
