Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanolis visited Bahrain in a state visit between September 5 and 8, following the official visit of the President of the Republic to Bahrain in January 2026 and an official invitation extended by Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Dr Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
According to an announcement issued by the Deputy Ministry, during her visit, Hadjimanolis held a bilateral meeting with her counterpart, as well as a number of other important meetings with competent authorities and the country’s political leadership, aimed at further strengthening and expanding cooperation between Cyprus and Bahrain in the field of shipping.
During the visit, a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of shipping is expected was signed, providing a framework for practical cooperation and the exchange of expertise and best practices between the two countries.
The visit follows that of Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications to Cyprus in October 2025, during which the two sides had the opportunity to discuss prospects for further developing bilateral cooperation in the field of shipping.
The Deputy Minister is accompanied by the President of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), Stavros Stavrou, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), Zacharias Siokouros, who is set to also hold separate meetings with business and academic representatives, the statement concluded.
