The price index of the means of agricultural production in agriculture reached 121.37 (100=base year 2020), in the first quarter of 2026, marking a decrease of 2.62% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2025, according to data published by CySTAT.
The largest annual decrease was recorded in the price of seeds and planting stock (-19.4%) and in the price of electricity (-10.95%).
Conversely, during the same period, the largest increases were recorded in the price of transport equipment and tractors (16.5%) and in materials (8.23%).
In the same quarter, the price index of agricultural products reached 134.24 for the total agricultural production, up 5.4% compared to the same quarter of 2025. Specifically, crop production reached 156.20 and livestock production 124.38 (100=base year 2020), recording an annual increase of 7.09% and 4.55% respectively.
As regards crop production, the largest increases in producer prices in the first quarter of 2026 were recorded for tomatoes (90%) and apples (29.5%), while the largest decreases were for seedlings (19.4%). Similarly, in livestock production, the largest increase was recorded in beef (59%), while the largest decrease was in pork (15.4%).
