The Non-Performing Loans (NPL) ratio of the banking sector remained unchanged in May compared to the previous month.
According to the Central Bank of Cyprus, as at the end of May 2026, the Non-Performing Loans (NPL) ratio of the banking sector, based on the methodology applied in the European Banking Authority’s (EBA) Risk Dashboard, i.e. including loans and advances to Central Banks and Credit Institutions, remained unchanged at 1.6%, compared with end-April 2026.
These figures are included in the updated aggregate Cyprus banking sector data (non-performing loans data) with reference date 31 May 2026 published on Thursday by the CBC.
The Bank says that the coverage ratio of NPLs with provisions increased marginally to 63.0% at the end of May 2026, compared with 62.9% at the end of April 2026.
Total restructured loans at the end of May 2026 amounted to €0.8 bn, out of which loans of €0.3 bn continue to be classified as NPLs, it concludes.
