The High Commissioner of India to Cyprus, Manish Manish, met with the creative team behind Ishqa, the first Bollywood feature film set to be shot on the island, according to a post on LinkedIn.
The meeting, held at the High Commission premises, brought together the film’s writer, director and producer Anjali Bhushan Mago, Cypriot partners Athena Xenidou and Ronan Le Du of Ray Films Cyprus, along with other members of the creative and production team.
During the meeting, the team presented their vision for Ishqa, outlining its Cyprus connection, production roadmap, and the opportunities it offers to showcase Indian storytelling through Cypriot locations, talent, and technical expertise.
Manish underscored the significance of the project, highlighting the role of cinema as a bridge between India and Cyprus. He noted that Ishqa has the potential to open new avenues in film production, tourism, creative industry collaboration, and people-to-people engagement.
He also recalled that during President Nikos Christodoulides’ state visit to India in May, he gave the film’s first “muhurat” clap in Mumbai, marking the official launch of the production.
According to Manish, the team’s visit to Cyprus shortly after the inaugural event reaffirms their commitment to completing the film within the planned production schedule this year.
Set to become the first Bollywood feature film to be shot, co-produced, and post-produced in Cyprus, Ishqa represents a significant step forward in cultural and creative cooperation between the two countries.
