The business mission to Kazakhstan, which took place within the framework of the first official visit of the President of the Republic to the country, was successfully completed, exceeding all expectations, since - among other things - substantial interest was recorded in a number of important sectors, such as energy, shipping and tourism.
Assessing the results of the mission, the Secretary General of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCCI), Philokypros Roussounides, emphasised - among other things - to InBusinessNews that "the contacts that were made, the meetings between companies and the discussions that were developed create well-founded expectations for specific business partnerships, investment initiatives and new commercial opportunities in the near future."
More specefically, in his statements, Roussounides pointed out that "the business mission and the Business Forum that we organised in Astana, within the framework of the first official visit of the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, to Kazakhstan, exceeded our expectations and confirmed that there are substantial prospects for further strengthening economic and business relations between the two countries."
As he explained, the presence of the President of the Republic, Government Ministers, senior state officials, as well as leading business and investment bodies from the two countries, gave particular importance to the Forum's work and demonstrated the will at the highest level to deepen bilateral cooperation.
"What we hold in our hearts is not only the extremely positive response we received from government and business entities in Kazakhstan, but mainly the strong interest shown in collaborations with Cypriot businesses," he added, underlining that "the contacts that were made, the meetings between companies and the discussions that developed create well-founded expectations for specific business collaborations, investment initiatives and new commercial opportunities in the near future."
Kazakhstan's dynamically growing economy
According to the Secretary General of the CCCI, Kazakhstan is a dynamically developing economy and one of the most important markets in Central Asia, while Cyprus can function as a reliable business, investment and financial hub towards the European Union and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.
"This strategic complementarity creates significant prospects for mutual benefit," he pointed out.
Particularly encouraging, he stressed, is the fact that substantial interest was recorded in sectors such as technology and innovation, financial services, energy, agriculture, transport, shipping, the digital economy and tourism.
At the same time, he continued, the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the CCCI and the corresponding Chamber of Commerce of Kazakhstan sets a strong institutional framework for the continuation and expansion of this effort.
"We leave Astana with particularly positive messages. We are not just returning with contacts and good intentions, but with strong indications that a new and promising channel of cooperation is opening between Cyprus and Kazakhstan, which can yield tangible business and investment results in the coming years to the benefit of the economies and businesses of the two countries," Roussounides concluded.
