The European Commission has confirmed the stable and positive course of the Cypriot economy, which remains among the fastest-growing economies in the European Union, the Directorate General for Growth of the Ministry of Finance has said.
Referring to the European Commission's Recommendations to the Member States in the context of the 2026 European Semester, it states that "for Cyprus, the European Commission's assessment confirms the stable and positive course of the economy, which remains among the fastest growing economies in the European Union".
The recognition of our country's strong fiscal position is particularly important, the press release says, adding that Cyprus is recording significant fiscal surpluses, rapid de-escalation of public debt and ensured fiscal sustainability.
"This reflects the responsible economic policy that is being implemented and strengthens the credibility of the Cypriot economy in a period of international uncertainty", it stresses.
The European Commission's Recommendations, it adds, are "a useful tool for continuing and accelerating the reform effort".
"Strong economic performance and fiscal stability create the conditions for addressing long-standing weaknesses and for building a more competitive, more resilient and more productive economy", it says.
Concluding, the press release says that the Government remains committed to implementing responsible economic policies and substantial reforms, with a firm focus on sustainable growth, fiscal stability and improving the everyday lives of citizens.
