Decrease in the share of young people not in employment or education in Cyprus, according to Eurostat

Cyprus recorded a 10.6% share of young people aged 15 to 29 who were neither in employment nor in education or training (NEET) in 2025. This represents a significant decrease compared with 2015, when the rate stood at 18.6%.

According to data published by Eurostat, across age groups in Cyprus, the NEET rate among young people aged 15–19 stood at 6.0% in 2025, down from 7.5% in 2015. For those aged 20–24, the rate reached 12.8%, compared with 22.2% in 2015.

Across EU age groups, the NEET rate was lowest among young people aged 15–19 at 5.3%, rising to 12.8% among those aged 20–24 and 14.7% among those aged 25–29.

At the member state level, the lowest NEET rates were recorded in the Netherlands (5.3%), Sweden (5.9%) and Slovenia (7.6%). In contrast, the highest rates were observed in Romania (19.2%), Bulgaria (13.8%) and Greece (13.6%), according to Eurostat data.
