Petros Nacouzis' first reaction to his election - "The strength you have given me becomes a commitment to hard work, unity and continuous struggle for our community"

His first message, as the new representative of the Maronite community in Parliament, has been sent by Petros Nacouzis, who managed to prevail, with a difference of 87 votes over Marios Mavrides. 

In a post on social media, Nacouzis stated that "with deep emotion and immense gratitude, I want to thank from the bottom of my heart all of you who supported me with your vote, trust and love."

Nacouzis pointed out that "my election as Maronite Representative in Parliament is a great honor but also a great responsibility. The strength you have given me becomes a commitment to hard work, unity and continuous struggle for our community and for every person who believes in a better tomorrow."

In conclusion, Nacouzis gave "a big thank you to everyone who stood by me on this journey. Your support was my greatest strength."

 

 

It is recalled that the Chief Returning Officer announced that the results of the vote for the election of a Representative of the Maronite Religious Group are as follows:

Registered voters: 4,624

Voted: 3,186 (68.90%)

Abstention: 1,438 (31.10%)

Valid: 3,125 (98.09%)

Invalid: 34 (1.07%)

Blank: 27 (0.84%)

Marios Mavrides: 1,519 (48.61%)

Petros Nacouzis: 1,606 (51.39%)

Based on the above results, Nacouzis is elected Representative for the Maronite Religious Group in the House of Representatives, whose proclamation will take place on Monday, 25 May, 2026, at 12pm, at the Nicosia Municipal Theater.

These individuals serve five-year terms as non-voting, consultative representatives for their respective communities
