Annual inflation in the euro area as well as Cyprus rose to 3.0% in April 2026, according to data published by Eurostat.
Across the European Union, annual inflation increased to 3.2% from 2.8% a month earlier (2.6% in the eurozone). In Cyprus, annual inflation climbed to 3.0% in April from 1.5% in March, while consumer prices rose by 2.2% on a monthly basis, Eurostat data showed.
According to Eurostat, the lowest annual inflation rates in the EU were recorded in Sweden at 0.5%, Denmark at 1.2% and Czechia at 2.1%, while the highest were seen in Romania at 9.5%, Bulgaria at 6.0% and Croatia at 5.4%.
The increase in euro zone inflation was mainly attributed to energy, which contributed 0.99 percentage points to the overall rate, while services contributed 1.38 percentage points. Food, alcohol and tobacco also had a positive impact on the inflation reading.
