250 business meetings in Mumbai highlight strong Cyprus-India interest in investments and partnerships

Interest in investments and partnerships between Cyprus and India is being recorded in recent months, particularly following the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Cyprus last June.

This growing momentum is expected to be further reinforced during the official visit of the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, to India, which is currently underway and will conclude on May 23. The President is accompanied by a large business delegation consisting of representatives from more than 45 Cypriot companies.

In the context of the visit, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), in collaboration with Invest Cyprus, as well as respective Indian chambers and business organisations, is organising a Business Forum expected to attract over 200 Indian entrepreneurs and company representatives from a wide range of economic sectors.

Speaking to InBusinessNews, CCCI Secretary General Philokypros Roussounides described the presidential business mission to India as “a historic and strategically significant initiative for strengthening economic and trade relations between Cyprus and India.”

He explained that the mission, organised by the CCCI and Invest Cyprus in close cooperation with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, represents the largest business delegation to the Indian market in decades.

According to Roussounides, more than 45 Cypriot companies are actively participating, while the business forum will host over 200 Indian business leaders and corporate representatives across diverse sectors of the economy.

At the same time, approximately 250 targeted business-to-business (B2B) meetings have already been scheduled, highlighting the strong and growing interest in partnerships, investments, and joint business ventures between the two countries.

In addition, particular importance is attached to the signing of four Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), in the presence of the President of the Republic, which are expected to further strengthen the institutional and business framework of cooperation between Cyprus and India in key strategic sectors.

India, one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, offers significant opportunities, with Cyprus positioned to play a meaningful role as a reliable European gateway for Indian businesses and investments into the European Union and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.

Concluding, Roussounides emphasised that through such initiatives, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry reaffirms its institutional role as the primary representative of the Cypriot business community, continuing to work consistently towards enhancing extroversion, economic diplomacy, and Cyprus’ international presence.
