The Chairman of the Cyprus Film Commission, Lefteris S. Eleftheriou, recently showcased Cyprus as a premier filming destination for an audience of industry experts in Athens.
As Eleftheriou stated in a LinkedIn post, "On May 9, I had the pleasure of presenting at the Michalis Kakoyiannis Institute during the 'Panorama of Cypriot Movies.' I shared with a highly engaged audience of Greek and Cypriot film professionals the unique advantages Cyprus offers to international productions — from its stunning locations and modern infrastructure to its competitive incentives and talented local crews."
He went on to note that, "Following the presentation, we held a dynamic panel discussion featuring representatives from the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture, EKOMED Greece, and Dot on the Map, Cyprus, with the presence of our Ambassador in Greece H.E. Mr. Stavros Avgoustides. We explored the exciting synergies between Cyprus and Greece for filmmakers, highlighting practical opportunities to combine the strengths of both countries for more ambitious and cost-effective productions."
"A big thank you to Diomides Nikitas, Director of the House of Cyprus (Σπίτι της Κύπρου) in Athens, for expertly moderating the panel and brilliantly organizing the entire event. The evening concluded beautifully with the screening of the compelling Cypriot film “Smaragda” (starring the talented Niovi Charalambous), followed by a wonderful networking reception with drinks and food, kindly sponsored by Invest Cyprus and the Cyprus Film Commission. Grateful for the meaningful conversations and new connections made. Excited to continue building bridges between our two countries’ film industries!," Eleftheriou concluded.
