"We are proud of the Cypriot defence industry. I truly believe in its potential. I believe in its prospects," President Nikos Christodoulides has said, following his address at the DEFEA (Defence Exhibition Athens) conference.
In a relevant post on X, Christodoulides continued, "And I am particularly pleased that in recent years it has made substantial, measurable and admirable progress. Progress that has elevated it to a reliable, dynamic, recognizable and promising partner in the European defense and innovation ecosystem."

The President, meanwhile, also reposted a post by Tasos Kounoudes, President of the Cyprus Association of Research and Innovation Enterprises (CARIE) and the Cyprus Defence Industry Cluster (CYDIC).
In his post, Kounoudes said, "At the DEFEA2025 conference today in Athens, a powerful keynote by President Nikos Christodoulides underscored the strategic importance of Europe’s defence industry and also Cyprus’ strong backing of its national defence ecosystem. A forward-looking and insightful intervention by Greek Minister of Defence Nikos Dendias, highlighting the importance of Greece’s defence sector, alongside insightful remarks from (European Commissioner for Defence and Space) Andrius Kubilius on key EU initiatives supporting the industry."
He went on to post, "Congratulations to DEFEA2025 and (Hellenic Manufacturers of Defence Material Association) SEKPY and for an outstanding, high-level event. Defence Industry collaboration between Cyprus and Greece is growing strong."
