Retail trade up by 7.8% in value and by 5.8% in volume in March 2026

The Turnover Value Index of Retail Trade increased by 7.8% in March 2026 compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, according to data published by CySTAT.

During the same month, the Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade increased by 5.8%, compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.

In terms of value, the largest increase was recorded in the category 'Information and communication equipment', up by 24.1%, followed by 'Automotive fuel' and 'Other household equipment (construction materials, carpets, furniture, electrical appliances, lighting)', both recording an increase of 12.8%.

During the same month, declines were recorded in the 'Clothing and footwear' category, down by 6.9%, and in the 'Flowers, plants, watches, jewelry, optical goods and second-hand goods' category, down by 5.1%.

In terms of volume, the largest increase was recorded in 'Information and communication equipment', up by 35.3%, followed by 'Other household equipment (construction materials, carpets, furniture, electrical appliances, lighting)', up by 12.8%.

Declines were recorded in 'Flowers, plants, watches, jewelry, optical goods, and second-hand goods', down by 9.7%, and in 'Food, beverages or tobacco in nonspecialised stores (supermarkets)', down by 4.9%.

For the period January–March 2026, retail trade recorded an increase of 6.6% in value and 6.4% in volume, compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
