Annual inflation in Cyprus stood at 3.0% in April 2026, fully aligning with the euro area average, according to a flash estimate published by Eurostat. Across the euro area, inflation rose to 3.0% from 2.6% in March, confirming a renewed upward pressure on consumer prices.
Cyprus has now moved exactly in line with the average, following lower readings in previous months, when inflation stood at 1.5% in March. On a monthly basis, inflation in Cyprus recorded a sharp increase of 2.2%, one of the highest rises among member states.
The main driver of the increase at euro area level was energy, with an annual growth rate of 10.9% in April compared to 5.1% in March. This was followed by services at 3.0%, food, alcohol and tobacco at 2.5%, and non-energy industrial goods at 0.8%.
Compared with other countries, Cyprus is close to the European average, while states such as Greece with inflation at 4.6%, Lithuania at 4.9%, and Croatia at 5.4% are recording higher inflation levels.
