Cyprus and Greece have entered a new expanded Strategic Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of investments, with the relevant documents signed on behalf of Cyprus by the CEO of Invest Cyprus, Marios Tannousis, and on behalf of Greece by the President of Enterprise Greece, Dimitris Skalkos.
In a statement after the signing of the Memorandum in Athens, Tannousis underlined the great importance of the closer relationship between Cyprus and Greece in the field of investment, adding that the two countries together can achieve greater goals for mutual benefit.
Tannousis placed particular emphasis on the development of Cyprus' defence industry, emphasising that this sector can attract significant investments from abroad.
Tannousis also underlined that the anticipated end of the war in Iran may create new important opportunities for Cyprus and Greece and the Memorandum that was signed will contribute to their exploitation.
Referring to the new Tax System of Cyprus, he said that it is functional, modern and flexible and is expected to contribute decisively to Cyprus remaining an attractive investment destination.
On his part, Skalkos pointed out the need for renewal and expansion of the Cyprus-Greece Memorandum of Cooperation, due to the major changes taking place in the international economy.
The two countries together, he added, can complement each other to meet the needs and demands of foreign investors.
He also mentioned that from the day after the signing of the Memorandum, Enterprise Greece and Invest Cyprus will begin its implementation with specific initiatives that concern both the two markets and the international economy.
Skalkos also said that the good progress of the economies of Cyprus and Greece constitutes the solid foundation on which new joint efforts to attract foreign investment can be based.
