Rescue drill conducted at Limassol Port container terminal

The first large-scale rescue drill at the container terminal of Limassol Port was successfully carried out on Thursday, 26 March, with the participation of employees of the terminal operator, Eurogate CTL, as well as members of the Disaster Response Special Unit (DRSU) and the Fire Service.

The drill simulated the rescue of an individual trapped on a 70-metre-high gantry crane at the port of Limassol. The operation involved the use of specialised equipment, along with a 60-metre telescopic platform operated by highly trained members of the Limassol District Fire Service.

Such scenarios are highly dangerous and require specialised rescue techniques and flawless coordination. The operation was particularly challenging due to the high altitude and limited access points.
